A fire broke out in the Nogueira area, in Camacha, with the alert being given at 4:30 PM. The fire mobilized three fire brigades in a coordinated effort by the Regional Civil Protection Service to quell and extinguish the flames.
The forces on the ground included a total of four heavy vehicles and 14 operatives. The Santa Cruz Municipal Firefighters were activated with seven members supported by two heavy vehicles.
The Madeirense Volunteers corporation also participated in the operation, having been deployed with a tanker truck and five men to reinforce the firefighting operation.
The operation was described as muscular by Civil Protection, which coordinated the joint effort of the three corporations to try to control the situation in the Nogueira area.
