Technical problems are causing disruptions to flight departures in the UK during this afternoon. The National Air Traffic Service (NATS), the country's main air traffic control services provider, confirmed the occurrence of a technical failure affecting British airports.

NATS issued a statement informing that engineers are on site investigating the problem and working to resolve the situation. The company apologized to passengers for the delays the interruption will cause to their travel.

Passengers affected by the failure are advised to check directly with their airline the status of their flights. NATS is providing updates on the situation through its official website and Twitter profile.
