The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro are investigating the circumstances that led a 39-year-old woman to stab her own 73-year-old mother to death inside a condominium in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, in the Southwest Zone of the city. The crime occurred this Monday (7). The victim, Graça Maria Caldas Mafra, was attacked and rescued in serious condition, taken to Hospital Municipal Lourenço Jorge, in Barra da Tijuca, but did not survive her injuries.
The victim's daughter, Natália Mafra Tupinambá, was arrested in the act shortly after the crime. The Military Police reported that they were called to the scene and found neighbors providing first aid to the elderly woman. The knife used in the attack was seized by the officers.
The case was initially recorded at the 42nd Police Station, in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, and later sent to the Capital Homicide Division. Investigators are working to reconstruct the dynamics of the crime and identify what motivated the attack.
The Civil Police confirmed that Natália already had other previous police records, but did not reveal what these incidents were or whether any of them were related to the victim. The investigations continue in progress to clarify the details of the case.
