Vegetation clearing on roads and municipal land in various locations of the municipality

Notícias de Setúbal7 September 2026 at 17:32

The Setúbal Municipal Council is carrying out vegetation clearing work on public roads and municipal land throughout the municipality. A team from a service provider company, consisting of six members, has been clearing verges and trimming tree branches since 24 August along five kilometres of road and paths near the Picheleiros campsite, in the parish of Azeitão. The work in this area is expected to continue until mid-September, then moving on to Estrada dos Picheleiros, towards Vale da Rasca and Aldeia Grande.

On 3 September, a municipal team with two tractors worked on Rua da Tanoeira, in the Manteigadas area, in the parish of São Sebastião, also clearing a municipal plot of land located there. The following day, a team of eight workers with brushcutters, a tractor and a crane truck from the Union of Parishes of Setúbal cleared verges on Estrada de Palmela, cut a sugarcane field to improve road safety and proceeded to clean pavements and clear gutters.

A plot of land of approximately 6000 square metres between Rua António José Baptista and the União Futebol Comércio e Indústria pavilion began being cleared on 7 September by a team of nine municipal workers with brushcutters, chainsaws, a backhoe loader and a truck, accompanied by two workers from the São Sebastião Parish Council.

The council regularly carries out these vegetation clearings near urban settlements and communication routes to clean up the spaces and prevent rural fires. In July, more than 10,000 square metres were cleared in various areas, and in early August interventions were carried out on Rua do Alto das Necessidades and on a plot of land of more than two hectares behind the São Filipe Family Health Unit, in Viso. Normally, these interventions are carried out twice a year at the various locations.
