oglobo7 September 2026 at 13:53

The city of Rio de Janeiro entered Stage 2 this Monday, as reported by the Center for Operations and Resilience (COR) of the city government. The decision was made given a combination of adverse meteorological factors: the passage of the Frozen meteorological system keeps temperatures low in the capital of Rio de Janeiro state, with a maximum expected of just 20 degrees, and rain is not expected to let up throughout the entire week.

According to the Alerta Rio System, the expected rain varies between weak and moderate intensity. Winds should remain between weak, with speeds of up to 18.5 km/h, and moderate, reaching up to 51.9 km/h. The forecast for the coming days indicates that rain will continue, with weak intensity expected for Tuesday morning.

The Brazilian Navy issued a swell warning that remains in effect until 6 PM this Monday, with waves that can reach up to 2.5 meters in height. For safety, Ciclovia Tim Maia was closed due to the risk posed by sea conditions.

The Center for Operations and Resilience (COR) is the agency responsible for monitoring the situation and coordinating the city government's actions in light of this scenario of adverse weather conditions in the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
