The work aims to raise awareness about the material memory of Portuguese emigration, focusing on the monuments erected in tribute to emigrants. The book addresses the history and significance of these monuments that represent a cultural heritage linked to Portugal's migratory phenomenon.
Daniel Bastos, native of Fafe, is the author of this publication which comes as a way to recognize and preserve the memory of Portuguese emigrants throughout history. The presentation in Brussels is part of the context of the Portuguese diaspora and the importance of keeping alive the remembrance of the experiences of those who left Portugal in search of better living conditions.
