Luso, the Portuguese spa town, hosted yesterday the first edition of the Living Statues Festival, an event that attracted thousands of visitors to the region. The festival brought together artists specializing in this art form, who remained motionless at different points throughout the town, reproducing historical figures and everyday scenes in a realistic manner.
The initiative arose with the ambition to position Luso as the European capital of living statues, seeking to establish the municipality as a differentiated tourist destination. The streets and public spaces of the town served as the stage for various static performances throughout the day.
The event featured the participation of national and international artists, who demonstrated their abilities in stillness and characterization. Many of these professionals dedicate themselves exclusively to this art, training for long periods to manage to maintain stable positions for hours.
Local authorities hope that the festival will become a reference in the region's cultural events calendar and attract even more visitors in future editions, contributing to the economic dynamization of Luso and the surrounding spa area.
