Nineteen municipalities in the districts of Bragança, Guarda, Santarém, Portalegre and Faro are today at maximum rural fire danger due to the heat.
The maximum fire danger was declared for these municipalities, which cover various regions of the country, from the northern interior to the Algarve.
Authorities are warning of the extreme risk of rural fire during this period of intense heat.
The affected municipalities are distributed across five districts, covering both inland and southern areas of Portugal.
