Nineteen municipalities in mainland Portugal are today at maximum danger of rural fire. The affected municipalities belong to five districts: Bragança, Guarda, Santarém, Portalegre and Faro.

According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), temperatures will remain high throughout the day, contributing to the extreme risk of fire in these regions.

Maximum danger represents the highest level on the rural fire risk scale used by IPMA, indicating conditions very favorable to the occurrence and spread of fires.
