A 49-year-old man was today seriously injured as a result of a workplace accident in Alcácer do Sal, in the district of Setúbal. The worker was buried during the incident, according to sources from Civil Protection and firefighters.

The Sub-Regional Command of Emergency and Civil Protection of Litoral Alentejo confirmed the information to the Lus news agency. The seriousness of the man's injury prompted special attention from the authorities responding at the scene.

The accident occurred in the area of Alcácer do Sal, a town in the district of Setúbal. The authorities did not disclose further details about the nature of the work the man was carrying out at the time of the accident.
