A 38-year-old mother named Corie Walsh was formally charged with first-degree murder on Friday (4) for the murder of her own two-year-old son, Barrett, in Frankfort, Illinois, United States. The crime allegedly occurred on Tuesday (1st) when the woman hanged the boy from the beams of her home's basement.
Corie Walsh confessed to investigators that she killed her son because she believed he was "the Antichrist" and "a demon." She also mentioned being "fascinated" by the case of Lindsay Clancy, another American mother who killed her children under similar circumstances.
The boy was found by a neighbor who called police and emergency services around 4 p.m. on Tuesday. The woman described the child as "cold" and without a pulse. Despite resuscitation attempts by paramedics, Barrett did not survive.
The mother was also taken to the hospital after trying to harm herself, with wounds to her wrists and thighs that were not considered serious. She was found in the master suite bathtub, according to court documents obtained by Fox 32 in Chicago.
