Setúbal Municipal Services invest 1.6 million euros in water and waste network

The Municipal Services of Setúbal (SMS) are investing 1.6 million euros in the rehabilitation of the water supply network and the waste network. This intervention aims to improve sanitation and water distribution infrastructure in the municipality.

Regarding water supply, 803 meters of network will be rehabilitated and 26 household connections will be executed. This intervention represents a significant part of the total planned investment.

The main objective of this intervention is to reduce water losses caused by breakages in the network. It also aims to avoid interruptions in water supply to the local population, ensuring a more efficient and continuous service.

The action, which is expected to be filed in administrative courts in September, challenges alleged irregularities in parking enforcement, the handling of defenses presented by drivers, and the collection of cases considered time-barred. The law firm Carlos Barroso & Associados currently handles more than a thousand traffic violation cases, many of them related to vehicles that were clamped or towed. Between 2020 and 2024, more than 1.13 million traffic violation notices were issued, with fine payments amounting to approximately 37.7 million euros. EMEL rejects the accusations, claiming it acts within its legal competencies delegated by the Lisbon City Council, and guarantees it will comply with any court decision.
