The Territorial Command of Guarda, through the Nature and Environment Protection Service (SEPNA) of the Gouveia Territorial Detachment, rescued on September 4 a roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) found weakened in the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, in the municipality of Seia.
The animal was located by a citizen along National Road 338, who alerted the Republican National Guard to the situation.
SEPNA officers went to the location and rescued the roe deer, taking it to the Center for Ecology, Recovery and Surveillance of Wild Animals (CERVAS), in Gouveia, where it will receive the necessary care for recovery and subsequent return to its natural habitat.
The GNR, through SEPNA, appealed to the public to report any situations involving injured, weakened or endangered wild animals through the SOS Environment and Territory Line – 808 200 520.
