Five municipalities in the Portalegre district are at very high fire danger, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA). This information comes on a day when temperatures remain high across much of mainland Portugal.

Eleven municipalities in the districts of Bragança, Guarda, Castelo Branco and Coimbra are at maximum fire danger. These include Vimioso, Miranda do Douro, Mogadouro and Freixo de Espada à Cinta in Bragança, as well as Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, Pinhel, Guarda, Almeida and Sabugal in Guarda, Penamacor in Castelo Branco and Pampilhosa da Serra in Coimbra.

More than 50 municipalities distributed across the districts of Vila Real, Bragança, Viseu, Guarda, Castelo Branco, Coimbra, Santarém, Portalegre and Faro face very high fire danger. IPMA forecasts that this situation will remain at least until Thursday.

Due to the heat, several districts are under yellow warning until 19:00 on Saturday, including Bragança, Viseu, Évora, Guarda, Faro, Vila Real, Setúbal, Santarém, Lisboa, Leiria, Beja, Castelo Branco, Coimbra and Portalegre. Minimum temperatures range from 16 degrees in Bragança to 25 in Portalegre, while maximum temperatures vary between 26 in Aveiro and 37 in Bragança.
