Temperatures are rising again, with heat intensifying in several regions of the country. This situation is causing a significant increase in rural fire risk in several municipalities.
Eleven municipalities distributed across the districts of Bragança, Guarda, Castelo Branco and Coimbra are today at maximum rural fire danger. Among these, there is at least one municipality in the Coimbra district that is at the top risk level.
This maximum danger classification alerts to meteorological conditions favorable to the occurrence and spread of fires, requiring increased preventive measures from authorities and local populations.
The return of intense heat after a milder period is behind this rise in the risk index, which especially affects the inland regions of northern and central Portugal.
