Madeira with mostly clear skies this Friday

The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) forecasts that the weather in Madeira will be generally partly cloudy this Friday. This weather forecast covers the entire island region.

The wind in Madeira will be weak to moderate, with speeds between 10 to 25 kilometres per hour, blowing from the north. In the Funchal region, the wind will be even lighter, under 15 kilometres per hour.

Regarding sea conditions, waves from the northeast of about 1 meter in height are expected on the north coast, while on the south coast the waves will be under 1 meter. Sea water temperature should be between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius.

Five municipalities in the Portalegre district at very high fire danger

Five municipalities in the Portalegre district are at very high risk of rural fire, according to IPMA, which placed eleven municipalities in the districts of Bragança, Guarda, Castelo Branco and Coimbra at maximum danger. More than 50 municipalities across eight districts face very high danger, with temperatures remaining high at least until Thursday. IPMA also issued a yellow warning for fourteen districts due to hot weather, with minimums between 16°C and 25°C and maximums between 26°C and 37°C, forecasting cloudy skies, possible showers and thunderstorms in the interior of the North and Centre.
