STF starts session without mentioning Banco Master crisis for second day

cbn3 September 2026 at 19:31

For the second consecutive day, the Supreme Federal Court began its session without making any reference to the crisis involving the Banco Master case, which came to light after revelations about the exchange of messages between banker Daniel Vorcaro and Justice Alexandre de Moraes.

The Court's silence comes a day after the release of a photo captured by photojournalist Breno Lopes, from the newspaper O Globo, which shows the STF justices laughing during the scandal involving the revelations about the case.

In the image, captured upon leaving the courtroom after the plenary session, the justices appear laughing while stories linking Alexandre de Moraes to Daniel Vorcaro were being reported by the press.

Earlier, at an event at the Superior Electoral Court, Justice André Mendonça, who is the rapporteur of the case, stated that justice must honor the trust of the people and that the justices must do so because of the trust placed by citizens in the institutions.
