Pedro Santana Lopes announced a project to create a "Metrobus" connection between Figueira da Foz and Coimbra. The announcement was made after a meeting with the Minister of Infrastructure, Pinto Luz.
The project proposes a dedicated-lane bus connection linking the two cities. This solution was presented as an alternative to the electrification of the existing railway line.
According to the mayor, the option for dedicated bus lanes is more economical than the electrification of the railway infrastructure. In addition, Santana Lopes pointed out that this solution would also be faster to implement.
