A Russian court placed Lida Moniava, a well-known director of a humanitarian organization for sick children, under judicial supervision, after being accused of criticizing the actions of the Russian army in Ukraine. The Moscow court announced that the humanitarian worker will remain under supervision until at least October 30.
Lida Moniava faces charges that could result in a ten-year prison sentence. The imposed restrictive measures include a ban on leaving home between 8:00 PM and 8:00 AM, as well as the inability to use the Internet.
The press service of the Moscow court issued a statement confirming these judicial supervision measures applied to the humanitarian activist. The case arises in a context of growing repression against critical voices regarding the Russian military intervention in Ukraine.
