PRR: Azores Contradict "Pessimistic Scenarios," Says Bolieiro

The president of the regional government of the Azores, José Manuel Bolieiro, guaranteed that the full compliance with the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) was ensured in the region. This statement comes as a response to comments from sectors that presented negative forecasts about the execution of the plan.

Bolieiro publicly contradicted what he designated as "pessimistic and catastrophic scenarios" raised by some critical voices. The governing official reinforced his administration's commitment to the full implementation of the PRR in the Azores.

The Recovery and Resilience Plan is a European financing program aimed at supporting the economic and social recovery of member states after the COVID-19 pandemic. In the Autonomous Region of the Azores, the execution of this plan has been closely monitored by the regional authorities.

The position of the president of the regional government comes at a time when the deadline for executing the measures provided for in the PRR is approaching. Bolieiro thus sought to convey confidence in the region's ability to meet the established objectives.

The interventions will cover the Rolando de Oliveira Basic School in Abraveses (807 thousand euros), the Rio de Loba Kindergarten (409 thousand euros), and the Aquilino Ribeiro Basic School and Kindergarten in Viseu (673 thousand euros). The mayor, João Azevedo, highlighted that these works join other interventions already completed or underway, with a total investment of approximately 15 million euros in rehabilitation, expansion, and construction of school facilities. The new school year in Viseu has a school community of approximately 13 thousand students.
