The JPP councilors in the Funchal City Council accused the PSD/CDS majority of disregarding Lazareto residents by rejecting a Recommendation proposal presented by the party. This proposal demanded the urgent resolution of the odor problem in the area surrounding the Lazareto Wastewater Treatment Plant.
According to councilors António Trindade and Fátima Aveiro, the situation seriously affects the quality of life, public health, and habitability of the local population. The JPP members consider that the PSD/CDS majority's refusal demonstrates a lack of sensitivity towards the problems faced by the residents of the area.
The Lazareto WWTP has been generating significant inconvenience to the residents of the surrounding area, with bad odors becoming a recurring problem. The JPP maintains that this issue should be treated as a priority by the Funchal municipality.
