The improvement works on IP8 in the municipalities of Beja and Ferreira do Alentejo, valued at over 70 million euros and funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan, were completed on Monday, August 31. The two new road variants to the towns of Beringel and Figueira de Cavaleiros have already been opened to traffic.
The intervention was promoted by Infraestruturas de Portugal and included the construction of these two new variants, which will now divert through traffic from these towns.
According to Infraestruturas de Portugal, the works contribute very significantly to improving mobility conditions and road safety on this important road axis in the Alentejo region.
The company also states that the commissioning of the new variants will have a very relevant impact on diverting through traffic from the towns of Figueira de Cavaleiros and Beringel, benefiting the residents of these areas.
