The Paço dos Duques de Bragança in Guimarães will host the XI International Colloquium "The Manor House. Anatomy of Interiors" from May 31 to June 5, 2027, bringing together national and international researchers and specialists dedicated to the study, conservation and enhancement of heritage.

The congress will have as its theme "Realities and Materialities: inhabiting, recovering and museumifying", intending to promote reflection on the manor house as a space of representation, living and memory, as well as on the processes of transformation, recovery and museumification of these properties. The scientific program will be organized in four main areas: patrons, artists, experiences and rituals; the structures and functional and symbolic organization of spaces; fixed ornamentation; and movable equipment and their respective functions.

The event is organized by the Paço dos Duques de Bragança, Guimarães Castle and São Miguel Church, integrated within Museums and Monuments of Portugal, in partnership with the Art History Institute of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at NOVA University of Lisbon and the Casa de Rui Barbosa Foundation from Brazil.

The holding of the congress at the Paço dos Duques reinforces Guimarães' role as a space for research and debate around historical and artistic heritage, bringing academic work closer to conservation, heritage recovery and museumification practices.
