Urban rehabilitation lost momentum in July

Expresso2 September 2026 at 09:00

The urban rehabilitation market indicators in Portugal registered a slowdown in the month of July. This decline represents a reversal compared to the positive trend the sector had been showing in previous months.

The number of licenses granted for urban rehabilitation projects fell during the first half of the year. This reduction in licenses is reflected in the overall activity of the sector and contributes to the observed slowdown.

The decline in indicators comes at a time when the rehabilitation market in Portugal has been facing several challenges. The sector, which had significant growth in recent years, now shows signs of loss of dynamism.

The data suggest a possible change in the growth cycle of the urban rehabilitation market in the country. This slowdown may have implications for the construction sector and for the Portuguese economy in general.
