Rental costs in Lisbon and Porto stabilize in the last year

PT Jornal2 September 2026 at 09:14

Rental costs in Lisbon and Porto remained practically unchanged in the last year, according to the most recent results of the Residential Rent Index by Confidencial Imobiliário. This stabilization represents a change from the growth trends seen in previous periods.

Rents on rental contracts signed in Lisbon in the second quarter of 2026 show a variation of 0.9% compared to the previous practice, which indicates a significant pause in the price escalation that had characterized the Portuguese real estate market in previous years.

The stabilization phenomenon is not limited to Lisbon alone, also encompassing the city of Porto, which has also been affected by pressure on the rental market. Both cities, being the main urban centers in the country, had registered substantial increases in rents in recent years.

This data comes in the context of a real estate market that has been facing significant challenges in terms of housing affordability, with several reports warning about the growing difficulties that residents face in finding housing at affordable prices in the main Portuguese cities.

Pruning rose bushes in autumn: how much can and should be cut before winter?

The article addresses pruning rose bushes in autumn, explaining that pruning should be adapted to each specific plant species, with the ideal timing varying according to the type and age of the rose bush, as well as local climate conditions. Although autumn pruning is possible, it is recommended to cut only about one third of the plant's length, as more drastic cutting can weaken it and make it harder to survive the winter. The article also advises waiting until the plant has definitively finished flowering before pruning it.
