The Municipality of Sines will guarantee, at the start of the 2026/2027 school year, the free distribution of fruit and school milk to children in the first cycle of basic education. Preschool students will also be covered by the measure, receiving school milk for free.
This initiative is part of the local strategy to promote healthy lifestyles in the municipality. The goal is to contribute to a more balanced diet among students from the first years of schooling.
The local council of Sines also intends for the measure to serve as a form of support for families in the municipality, helping to reduce household expenses related to feeding their children. This free distribution complements the existing national school fruit and milk programme.
