The Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF) authorized a new request to cull deer in a village in the district of Bragança. The authorization comes after chestnut producers from Cova de Lua presented complaints about the damages caused by the animals to their farms.
The village's chestnut groves suffered significant destruction due to the presence of deer. Local producers have been denouncing the damage caused to the chestnut trees, compromising the region's chestnut production.
The situation reflects an ongoing conflict between agricultural activity and the preservation of wildlife in the Trás-os-Montes region. The ICNF, as the entity responsible for game management, evaluated the request and granted authorization for the control of the deer population in the affected area.
