Return of heat and greater fire risk from Thursday

RTP Notícias1 September 2026 at 08:30

Temperatures will rise again in mainland Portugal. From Wednesday, thermometers can reach 40 degrees in regions such as the Tagus valley, Beira Baixa and Alentejo.

The intense heat represents a greater fire risk from Thursday. The weather conditions favorable to fire motivate the alert for the need for vigilance.

On Thursday there is also the possibility of dust appearing from North Africa, which may contribute to worsening air quality in some regions of the country.

The return of heat after a milder period contrasts with previous conditions, increasing concern among authorities regarding the risk of fires during this heat wave period.
