Anacom applied a fine of 350 thousand euros to NOS for unilaterally altering the contractual conditions of 821,641 subscribers. The alteration consisted of the introduction of mandatory advertising in automatic recordings of NOS's television service.
The decision was announced today by the National Communications Authority, which identified the violation of contractual obligations applied by the telecommunications company. The unilateral alteration of contracts affected more than 820 thousand clients, who saw their TV service conditions modified without their explicit consent.
The fine of 350 thousand euros reflects the gravity of the infringement committed by NOS, which proceeded with these alterations without respecting consumer rights established in applicable legislation. The regulator considers that the introduction of mandatory advertising in automatic recordings constitutes a substantial modification of the conditions initially agreed upon with customers.
