An investment of 15 million euros will allow saving approximately 60% of the water used in the Alvor-Bravura Irrigation Perimeter, in the Algarve. The project is integrated into the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
The main objective of this intervention is to modernize the existing irrigation system, significantly reducing water consumption in a region frequently affected by drought periods.
The irrigation perimeter in question serves an important agricultural area in the Algarve, where water for irrigation is essential for the activity of local farmers.
With this reduction in water consumption, it is expected to guarantee greater sustainability of available water resources for agriculture in the Algarve region.
