José Pontes and Telmo Silva became European university champions, achieving the top title in the competition that involved athletes from various European universities. This feat represents the highlight of the University of Aveiro's participation in this sporting event.
Despite the individual success of the two athletes, the University of Aveiro delegation recorded a decrease in the total number of medals won compared to previous editions of the competition.
Coach Francisco Silveira acknowledged the decrease in collective results, but emphasized the good overall performance of the university. According to the coach, this was a year of restructuring for the institution, which may partly explain the results obtained.
