Fredrik Aursnes remains in doubt for Benfica's next call-up, for the clash with Estoril. The decision will only be made after a new evaluation by the clinical department, but it is unlikely that the Norwegian international will be among Marco Silva's selected players.
The midfielder continues to recover from a sprained right ankle, the injury that kept him out of the match against Aarhus last Thursday. There was some expectation that Aursnes could return to the called-up players, but that scenario has become increasingly difficult.
Marco Silva will wait for the medical department's opinion to decide if the player is fit to return to competition. If the decision is not to risk his immediate return, Aursnes is expected to be left out and target the next matchday's game, against Marítimo, as a possible date to return to the coach's options.
This is, at this time, the most likely scenario for the midfielder, who has been an important piece in the red side's team.
