The municipality of Albergaria-A-Velha decided to support the investment made by the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Albergaria-A-Velha in the acquisition of operational intervention equipment.
The support comes in response to the growth of the region's industrial zone, which has brought increased risks of serious accidents, including fires, hazardous material incidents, road accidents involving heavy vehicles and natural collapses.
The city council approved a budget of 65 thousand euros for the purchase of a Multi-Story Natural Hazard Protection Module, equipment that reinforces the operational capacity of firefighters and allows intervention in toxic environments, already with breathing air cylinders available.
The equipment set also includes lighting towers, high-capacity generators, water drainage pumps, chainsaws, a winch and a circular saw, among other materials.
