Alcoutim may see the country's largest solar plant sold after British owner's insolvency

Welink Energy, the British company that owns Solara4, which controls the largest solar plant in Portugal in Alcoutim, entered insolvency proceedings in the UK in June. The plant, with 219 megawatts and an investment of around 175 million euros, faces operational and financial difficulties, including production below forecasts, negative electricity prices, fires and technical failures. A Chinese construction company, CTIEC, is claiming 143 million euros in an arbitration process.
