Almodôvar invests in video surveillance to reinforce forest protection

The Municipal Council of Almodôvar will invest up to 138,126 euros, excluding VAT, in the acquisition and installation of two forest video surveillance systems in Alto do Mú and Moinho da Boavista. The public tender, published in the Official Gazette, has an execution period of 278 days and proposals can be submitted until 5:00 PM on September 2, 2026. Alcoutim may see the country's largest solar plant sold after British owner's insolvency

Welink Energy, the British company that owns Solara4, which controls the largest solar plant in Portugal in Alcoutim, entered insolvency proceedings in the UK in June. The plant, with 219 megawatts and an investment of around 175 million euros, faces operational and financial difficulties, including production below forecasts, negative electricity prices, fires and technical failures. A Chinese construction company, CTIEC, is claiming 143 million euros in an arbitration process. Management has been transferred to Exus and Enertis, who are assessing the asset's recovery or a potential sale, while the environmental assessment of a wind project to expand the facility is also underway.

CIMBAL launches 1 million euro tender for school meals in Baixo Alentejo

The Intermunicipal Community of Baixo Alentejo (CIMBAL) launched a public tender for a framework agreement for the supply of school meals with an estimated maximum value of one million euros, divided into four lots of 250 thousand euros each. The procedure, published in the Official Gazette on August 28, has a duration of 12 months and covers different school catering models, including local preparation, hot transported meals, and supply of food and non-food raw materials. Interested companies can submit proposals until September 25, after which the evaluation and selection of economic operators to join the framework agreement will take place.
