The death toll from the rains that have been hitting Paraná since last week has risen to four. The rain in the state has persisted for at least seven days, since last Wednesday (9). On Tuesday (15), the intensity decreased, but the effects are still significant, mainly in two regions of Paraná.
In the Ribeira Valley region, firefighters found the body of a person in the Ribeira River, in Rio Branco do Sul, on Monday afternoon (14). Additionally, three other people were found dead in Ponta Grossa, who, according to preliminary information, were a family buried under a landslide.
In the region of União da Vitória, in the extreme south of Paraná, on the border with Santa Catarina, the Iguaçu River remains above normal levels. The river, which runs through the state, reached 6.27 meters and has already overflowed.
In União da Vitória, approximately 1,800 people are displaced and had to leave their homes to seek shelter or stay with friends and relatives.
