The district of Leiria is classified among the areas with the highest rural fire risk in Portugal. The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) issued an alert for high temperatures and very high fire risk in several regions of the country.
The IPMA warning remains in effect until Sunday, covering multiple areas of Portuguese territory. The weather conditions contribute to a scenario of high danger of rural fire spread.
Authorities are warning the population about the need for heightened vigilance during this period. Special care is recommended with activities that may generate sparks or flames in areas of dry vegetation.
