The 2026 bathing season ended on Sunday, September 13, on the beaches of Póvoa de Varzim and Vila do Conde. With the official end of summer, surveillance services on these beaches have ceased operations.
However, Os Golfinhos – Association of Swimmers announced that it will remain on the ground throughout the year through the SAAB service – Annual Lifeguard Assistance Service. The association will maintain four motorized means ready to provide assistance and respond to emergencies on the beaches of both municipalities.
This continuity is particularly important because weather forecasts indicate that good weather should continue during much of September, which should attract many bathers to the region's beaches even after the end of the bathing season.
