A man was arrested by the Federal Highway Police (PRF) after trying to escape by swimming across Guanabara Bay, on Saturday afternoon, in São Gonçalo, in the Metropolitan Region of Rio. According to the agency, he had abandoned a car with drugs after disobeying a stop order on the Niterói-Manilha Highway (BR-101). The driver even tried to ram the vehicle toward the officers before leaving it and running to the bay, where he entered the water.
The agents followed the suspect to the pier and, with the support of a fishing boat, managed to reach him and make the arrest. In the abandoned vehicle, police found 19 blocks of marijuana, three of hashish, five packages of skunk, and 30 bags containing 50 marijuana小额 packages each.
The man stated he had been hired to pick up the narcotics in Complexo do Alemão, in Rio's North Zone, and transport them to Rio das Ostras, in the Lagos Region. The attempted stop occurred around 5 PM.
