Monsignor Manuel Vilar died at the age of 82 in Viana do Castelo, leaving the local Diocese and the Municipal Council in deep sorrow. Both entities have already issued notes of sorrow for the loss.
Ordained in 1967 in Braga, he arrived at the parish of Meadela in October 1969, where he dedicated almost six decades of his life. Over more than half a century, he profoundly transformed the parish, renewing structures and promoting cultural activity.
Monsignor Manuel Vilar was also responsible for calling laypeople to actively participate in the life of the community, contributing to greater dynamization and involvement of the faithful in the parish of Meadela.
