The Ukrainian railway company Ukrzaliznytsia warned today that a "systematic attack" is underway on the railway network "across the country", after President Volodymyr Zelensky indicated that a Russian drone hit a train near the border with Poland. The company warned of significant delays and possible disembarkation of passengers.
A Russian drone today hit a train bound for Warsaw, near the Polish border with Ukraine, without causing casualties. The train, carrying 206 passengers, was traveling between Kyiv and Warsaw. Polish railway company PKP Intercity confirmed the incident.
According to Ukrzaliznytsia, the attack occurred in Volhynia, two kilometers from the border with Poland, with the locomotive of a passenger train being hit. Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Moscow hit the train "deliberately".
The train crew was warned in advance of the threat, which allowed injuries to be avoided. This was the second consecutive day of attacks on the Ukrainian railway network, according to the state-owned company.
