The Regional Secretary for Economy, José Manuel Rodrigues, highlighted the journey of Monte Palace Garden Madeira in the New 7 Wonders of Portugal, after the space reached the final of the Tourism category. The competition was decided in Sintra, where the Jardim do Paço Episcopal, located in Castelo Branco, ended up winning this category.
The Madeiran government official reacted to the competition's decision through a statement, in which he congratulated the winners of the category. Rodrigues publicly acknowledged the achievement of the garden in Castelo Branco, demonstrating sportsmanship in Monte Palace's defeat.
Monte Palace Madeira, which was competing in the Tourism category, managed to reach the final phase of the competition, which in itself represents an important recognition for Madeira's natural and tourist heritage. The space is known for its botanical richness and its exceptional gardens.
This result means that Madeira was left without any representation among the New 7 Wonders of Portugal in this edition of the competition, despite the prominence achieved by Monte Palace throughout the competition.
