The body of a 66-year-old man was found this Friday morning along the waterline, on the beach of Lagoa de Albufeira Sul, in the municipality of Sesimbra. The information was confirmed by the National Maritime Authority, which stated that the causes that led to the death are still unknown.
The alert was received at around 06:45 through a passerby who was in the area. Following this warning, elements from the Local Command of the Maritime Police of Setúbal and the Voluntary Firefighters of Sesimbra were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the Maritime Police elements carried out the necessary procedures, with the health delegate having completed the death verification report. After contacting the Public Prosecutor's Office, the body was transported by the firefighters to the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences in Setúbal.
The Psychology Office of the Maritime Police was activated to provide support to the victim's family.
