Sardoal brings together hunters and ICNF to halt "exponential" increase of wild boars

Correio do Ribatejo11 September 2026 at 17:25

The Sardoal City Council will promote a meeting with the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF) and hunter associations to find solutions for the wild boar problem in the municipality. The mayor, Pedro Rosa, from PSD, announced this initiative today.

According to the mayor, the increase in the number of wild boars has been "exponential" in the last two to three years. The animals have been approaching settlements, destroying agricultural crops and causing road accidents in the region.

The municipality intends to discuss with the competent entities and hunters measures to stop this situation, which has affected safety and agricultural activity in the territory.
