Israeli army denies testimonies about use of AI to bomb Gaza

SAPO Notícias11 September 2026 at 17:47

The Israeli army publicly denied testimonies pointing to the use of artificial intelligence in selecting targets for bombings in the Gaza Strip. The information comes after reports indicating that AI systems would have been used to identify and prioritize targets during the attacks.

In response to the accusations, Israel guaranteed that all decisions regarding the selection and approval of attacks are made exclusively by human personnel. The army stressed that it does not use automated systems to make decisions about military operations.

The testimonies refer to the period during which Israeli military operations in Gaza are taking place, which have already caused a high number of civilian casualties. Human rights organizations have expressed concern about the humanitarian impact of the bombings on the Palestinian population.

This denial comes in a context of growing international scrutiny over Israel's military practices and compliance with international humanitarian law in the operations in Gaza.
