ADN makes new proposals for a ferry between Madeira and the mainland

Funchal Notícias11 September 2026 at 16:33

ADN Madeira has once again put forward proposals for the creation of a maritime connection between Madeira and the mainland, deepening an initiative already presented on August 31. The political formation led by Maíza Fernandes now advocates for a model that allows more flexible use of the ferry's cargo capacity.

The proposed model is based on the 75/25 proportion, which will be adapted to respond to seasonal variations in demand. During periods with fewer passengers and private vehicles, part of the ferry's available capacity may be redirected for other purposes.

This approach aims to ensure the economic viability of the maritime connection throughout the year, not just during the high season. ADN believes that flexibility in managing the ferry's spaces is essential to make the service sustainable and attractive to operators.

Lost a family member and don't know if they left life insurance? This is how to get that information quickly

Family members of deceased persons may be unaware of the existence of life insurance policies associated with the deceased. To obtain this information, they can contact the Insurance and Pension Funds Supervisory Authority (ASF), which maintains a central registry of life insurance, personal accident, and capitalization operation contracts. The request is made through a form that must be filled with the applicant's and the deceased's data, accompanied by the death certificate and identification documents. The form, signed and with the necessary documentation, can be sent by email, mail, or delivered in person. ASF responds within a maximum period of 10 working days. There are, however, limitations: non-contributory group insurance may not appear in the registry, and there are legal exclusions for insurance with a duration equal to or less than two months, among others. The identification of an insurance does not automatically mean that the applicant is the beneficiary; this confirmation must be requested directly from the insurer.
