The CEO of Maracanã, Fred Nantes, commented on the Public Ministry investigation that is investigating overcrowding at the stadium during Flamengo and Fluminense games since last year. The investigation involves ticket sales above capacity and sectors with excess fans, especially in the north and cativas (reserved) areas, according to details disclosed by columnist Diogo Dantas.
Fred Nantes stated that Maracanã will respond to all information requested by the Public Ministry within the deadline and through official channels. According to him, there is excellent collaboration with the agency and all clarifications are being provided.
The executive classified the investigation as a predominantly media-driven issue. He defended the work carried out by the stadium and reiterated the commitment to transparency in meeting the demands of authorities.
Nantes also commented on the possibility of Vasco playing at Maracanã. According to him, there was no formal request for the Copa do Brasil semifinal against Palmeiras to be held at the stadium.
