Prosecution raises to 30 the sexual assaults in Ceuta, 40% of victims are unaccompanied migrant girls

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General11 September 2026 at 17:34

The Attorney General raised to 30 the number of procedures opened due to sexual assaults against migrant women in Ceuta since late June. The Attorney General of the State, Teresa Peramato Martín, revealed these numbers during a meeting with the Minister of Youth and Childhood, Sira Rego.

Forty percent of the victims are girls who arrived in the autonomous city of Ceuta without the company of their parents, that is, unaccompanied migrant minors. These young women are among the most vulnerable population affected by these crimes.

Both political leaders agreed to accelerate the transfer to the Peninsula of the children and young people who arrived in Ceuta during the massive influx and who are unaccompanied. This measure aims to protect minors from possible new assaults.

The meeting between Peramato Martín and Sira Rego aimed to coordinate efforts to reinforce the protection of underage victims and guarantee their transfer to peninsular territory as quickly as possible.
