Rua do Freixedo, in Mouriz, is in the final phase of an intervention that aims to change the traffic conditions on one of the busiest roads near the Mouriz School Centre and the Paredes Sports City. The widening and paving work should be operational for the start of the new school year, according to the Paredes Municipal Council.
The intervention had already been discussed at a municipal executive meeting in May, when the need for a deep requalification of the road was identified. The council explained that Rua do Freixedo is heavily used by buses and by parents transporting their children to school and to the Sports City.
The process also included work on the sanitation network, before the paving work advanced. The council also pointed to the continuity of interventions in the area, including the improvement of infrastructure and the road on the section between the crossroads and the Vila Cova roundabout.
The conclusion of this phase thus happens at the gates of the return to school, in a period when vehicle and pedestrian traffic increases in that area of Mouriz.
