The Order of Doctors presented this Friday, in Guarda, a set of proposals in various areas aimed at attracting health professionals to underserved areas of the country's interior. The goal is to "counter the response" that has been given so far, considering current measures as "sporadic, temporary and reactive".
The document proposes measures in the financial, fiscal and professional areas to attract and retain doctors in these regions. One of the main measures foreseen in the document is protocols between the Ministry of Health and municipalities for collaboration in attracting professionals.
The presentation took place in Guarda, an interior city that reflects the difficulties of attracting health professionals to these areas. The Order of Doctors argues that a structured and long-term plan is needed to solve the problem of the lack of doctors in these regions.
